Sargasheshi is a handicraft outlet for women with Down Syndrome, jointly initiated by Down Syndrome Trust, Kozhikode (DOST), and ULCCS Foundation. This project generates jobs for women with Down Syndrome and works as a center of all handicrafts made by Adults with Intellectual Challenges. The centre also works as the outlet of Sargaalaya art and craft village to sell handicraft items produced by the artisans at Sargaalaya, a unit of ULCCS.
The project aims to ensure permanent income for women with Down Syndrome and is considered to be the first of its kind in India. The centre also conducts periodical exhibitions to ensure public awareness about the rights and capabilities of Adults with Intellectual Challenges and thereby mainstreaming them.
